Keeping Pace with a Changing Food Supply

Time and Location: The one-day conference will be held on Friday, April 16, 1999, from 8:30 am until 5:15 pm, at the Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel which is also the ASNS Headquarters Hotel. The conference is a satellite to Experimental Biology '99 to be held in the same location from April 17-21, 1999.

Registration: There is no registration fee, but pre-registration is required to guarantee a seat, and is limited to the first 300 persons. Persons who have not registered may attend if space permits. Attendees of the Nutrient Databank Conference who do not wish to attend the Experimental Biology meeting are not required to pay the EB registration fee.

Hotel reservations: If you will be staying overnight in Washington, reservations may be made through EB '99. Visit the EB '99 Home Page for more information and a list of hotels. Reservations must be made prior to March 3, 1999.

Exhibits and posters: There will not be space for exhibits, but a location to distribute hand-outs will be provided. Poster-boards will not be available, but table-top posters are encouraged. To submit a poster, please send an abstract of 250 words or less (along with your name and address) to:

Electronic submissions are preferred. The deadline for receipt of abstracts is February 1, 1999. The abstract should present findings of research related to the use of food composition databases. You will be notified promptly if your abstract is accepted.

Conference proceedings: The proceedings of the conference will be made available electronically on the Conference Home Page. (www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/conf).

Related events: Experimental Biology '99 will be held from Saturday, April 17 through Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at the Washington Convention Center. For more information, see the EB '99 home page. The advance registration fee is $150 for participating society members, $210 for nonmembers, and $45 for students. The deadline for advance registration is February 19, 1999.

A tour of the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center will be available on Thursday afternoon, April 15.  If you wish to attend this tour, please indicate so when you register--Space is limited.

For those who are interested, an optional no-host dinner will be arranged for Friday evening, April 16th. If you are interested, please indicate so when you register--Space is limited.  This will help us in locating a restaurant.
