H.R. 5555—The Trauma Care Systems Planning and Development Act

On June 8, 2006, Representative Michael Burgess (R-TX) introduced H.R. 5555, the Trauma Care Systems Planning and Development Act, which amends the Public Health Service Act to add requirements regarding trauma care. H.R. 5555 would require the Institute of Medicine to conduct a study on the state of trauma care and trauma research. In addition, the bill would require the NIH to establish and implement a plan for carrying out the recommendations of the NIH Trauma Research Task Force. H.R. 5555, which has two cosponsors, was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
