NIGMS provides support for scientific meetings, conferences, and workshops that are relevant to its scientific mission. Scientific meetings may be funded by grant (R13) or cooperative agreement (U13) assistance mechanisms and may be funded for up to 5 years. Any U.S. institution or organization, including an established scientific or professional society, is eligible to apply. NIGMS first requires potential applicants to submit a letter of intent to one of the NIGMS contacts listed below at least 30 days before the application deadline. The letter of intent must contain the title, purpose, significance, content, audience, and location of the proposed meeting. Note that acceptance of a letter of intent does not substitute for the conference grant application. There must be at least 6 months between the application deadline and the date of the proposed conference.
