S. 1101—National Cancer Act of 2003

On May 21, 2003, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), introduced S. 1101, the National Cancer Act of 2003. Among other provisions, S. 1101 would expand cancer research, expand access to cancer drugs and treatment, require health insurers to allow access to cancer clinical trials, and provide quality of care and patient navigators. The bill was introduced with 24 co-sponsors and was referred to the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. The companion measure, H.R. 2741, was introduced by Representative Lois Capps (D-CA) on July 15.
