Dr. Robert C. Angerer
Scientific Director, Division of Intramural Research, NIDCR
Mission
Scientists in the Division of Intramural Research (DIR) conduct basic laboratory and clinical research. Using the latest techniques in biomedical science - molecular biology, immunology and cell biology - researchers investigate the biochemistry, structure, function and development of bone, teeth, salivary glands and connective tissues; the role of bacteria and viruses in oral disease; genetic disorders and tumors of the oral cavity; the cause and treatment of acute and chronic pain; and the development of new and improved methods to diagnose oral disease.
For additional information, see the Executive Summary of the Report of the Blue Ribbon Panel on the NIDCR Intramural Research Program.
