Give Us Your Ideas for NIDCR's Next Strategic Plan

Dear Colleagues,

Photo of Dr. Lawrence TabakNIDCR is developing a new strategic plan to guide the Institute’s research efforts over the next 5 years (2009-2013).  This undertaking is important to us for several reasons.  First, it provides an opportunity to review our research portfolio and programs to be certain they will remain relevant and productive over the next five years.  Second, it allows us to take stock of broad scientific trends and identify opportunities for new research and collaboration that will advance the NIDCR mission and the field of oral, dental, and craniofacial research.

Most importantly, the strategic planning process gives us a unique opportunity to gather input from our colleagues and stakeholders--including researchers, academics, dental organizations, industry groups, patients, clinicians, and others. To this end, we invite you to give us your candid opinions and ideas about future directions for the Institute.

Please take a few moments to answer the questions on the comment form.  We also invite you to identify yourself and your institution or organization so we can better understand your perspective.  Please provide your comments no later than July 11, 2008.

Thank you in advance for your participation.  With your help, we will have a Strategic Plan that reflects the collective wisdom of the field and provides a blueprint for NIDCR going forward.

Sincerely,

Lawrence A. Tabak, D.D.S., Ph.D.
Director
National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research
