The NINR Summer Genetics Institute Online Application

Applicants to the NINR Summer Genetics Institute (SGI) must submit their applications online.

The online application application is available HERE.

The deadline for applications is March 3, 2008.

To complete the application for SGI, you will need the following information:

  • A curriculum vitae. Please include: home and work contact information, educational background, work experience, publications, research studies, research or clinical presentations, and honors and awards.
  • A statement of research or practice goals. Please include a description of why you are interested in the SGI, how you plan to use the SGI training opportunity to advance your research or clinical career, and how you expect to use the information and skills acquired during the SGI at your home institution and in your career.
  • An abstract of a proposed research study. This abstract will be developed into a grant proposal over the course of the SGI.
  • Email addresses for three indviduals willing to submit a letter of recommendation. These individuals should be able to comment on your academic, clinical, and/or research abilities, leadership skills, and potential for contributing to nursing science.
  • Email address for your employer or, if you are a graduate student, a faculty member. This person will be contacted by the SGI Coordinator to provide a statement of support to verify that you are able to participate in the SGI without additional work, clinical, or academic responsibilities for the full two-month program.

The following information should be requested and mailed directly to the SGI Coordinator:

  • An official transcript for your most recent degree. Current graduate students should also submit a transcript from your current program. Offical transcripts should be mailed from the university to:

The application deadline is March 3, 2008. 
All applicants will be notified of selection decisions by the end of March 2008. Only complete applications will be reviewed.
