The NINR Summer Genetics Institute Paper Application
Applicants to the 2009 NINR Summer Genetics Institute (SGI) must submit a hard copy of their application to:

Applications should be sent via USPS, FEDEX, UPS or other courier service. All applications must be postmarked no later than: March 2, 2009. Only complete applications will be reviewed.
Eligibility Requirements
Graduate students, faculty in schools of nursing, and advanced practice nurses who are citizens or permanent residents of the U.S.
INSTRUCTIONS
The following information must be included in your application in the order listed below:
1. A statement of research or practice goals. Please include a description of why you are interested in attending the SGI, how you plan to use the SGI training opportunity to advance your research career, and how you plan to use the information and skills acquired during the SGI at your home institution and in your professional career. Limit: 1 page.
2. An abstract of a proposed research study. This abstract will be developed into a grant proposal during the SGI. Limit: 1 page.
3. A curriculum vitae (CV). Your CV should include your full name, statement that you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. (include Alien Registration Number), both your home and work contact information (addresses, phone numbers, including cell phone if available, and e-mail addresses); educational background, including degrees, certifications and credentials; work experience; publications; research studies; research presentations; and honors and awards.
4. Three letters of recommendation. The individuals who provide letters of recommendation should be able to comment on your academic, clinical, and/or research abilities, leadership skills, and potential for contributing to nursing science. These individuals should seal their letters in an envelope and return to the applicant. The applicant should submit all three sealed letters of recommendation with the application packet.
5. A letter of support from your employer or, if you are a graduate student, a faculty member. This letter should verify that you are able to participate in the SGI and that you will not have work, clinical, or academic responsibilities during the full two-month program. Include the letter of support with your application.
Your name and the page number must appear on each page of your application.
