The National Institute of Diabetes & Digestive & Kidney Diseases

Oversees all activities related to administration of the HNRIM System, the only congressionally mandated, government-wide nutrition research and training data base.  This program provides data that form the basis for many Federal reports including the Annual Report of the NIH Program in Biomedical and Behavioral Nutrition Research and Training, as well as many of the nutrition-related Congressional reports and testimonies.  Provides direction and coordination for the scientific accuracy and all administrative- and computer-related activities needed to develop, maintain and service the HNRIM System including data compilation, updating, organizing and assessing data from various sources, quality control, and website and data base maintenance.  Cooperates with the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) in identifying and capturing relevant dietary supplement research, and providing a subset of HNRIM data for the CARDS (Computer Access to Research on Dietary Supplements) database that is maintained by the ODS.
