The National Institute of Diabetes & Digestive & Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) announces a workshop focusing on the molecular players involved in the establishment, maintenance, and turnover of different fat depots. Speakers will present what is known about the molecular determinants of depot size and sites of deposition, cellular makeup (number and types of adipocytes, macrophages and endothelial cells), and factors that control remodeling and turnover of different fat depots. Plenary talks, selected "hot topic" presentations, and a poster session will provide a forum for interactions among basic scientists and clinical researchers working across these areas. |
