Science Education Drug Abuse Partnership Award Program

To ensure that all members of society have the opportunity to understand the role of science, biology, and technology as they relate to neuroscience and drug abuse and addiction research, NIDA funds grants through its Science Education Drug Abuse Partnership Award (SEDAPA) program (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-08-145.html). The purpose of the SEDAPA program is to fund the development and evaluation of innovative programs and materials for enhancing knowledge and understanding of neuroscience and the biology of drug abuse and addiction among K-12 students, the general public, health care practitioners, and other groups. NIDA has been engaged in the SEDAPA program since 1992, and has funded programs that range from improving science and drug abuse knowledge among high school students in a local community to the development of broad media outlets, such as radio stations. A brief description of some of the projects that NIDA has funded is listed below. If you would like information on the SEDAPA program or any of the grants listed below, please contact Cathrine Sasek, Ph.D. at csasek@nih.gov or 301-443-6071.
