About Pediatric Psychiatry Consultation Services
Pediatric Psychiatry Consultation is available for psychiatric evaluation of children and adolescents participating in research protocols in the Clinical Center. Consultations are available for inpatients and outpatients.

How to request a consultation
To request a routine pediatric psychiatry consultation during daytime hours, call the Psychiatry Consultation Service at (301) 496-9675 and enter a consultation request in CRIS.

For an emergency consultation, call the operator at (301) 496-1211 and ask for the Psychiatry Officer of the Day and enter a consultation request in CRIS.

Notify the patient and their family that you have requested psychiatric consultation.

Physician staff

  • Dr. Maryland Pao is a Deputy Clinical Director in the NIMH Office of the Clinical Director. She is a board certified child and adolescent psychiatrist and pediatrician. She completed her pediatric and general psychiatry residencies and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She has been the Director of Pediatric Consultation Liaison Services at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center and Children’s National Medical Center. She joined the Clinical Center in September 2002.
  • Dr. Alan Zametkin is a staff psychiatrist in the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program of the NIMH. He is a board certified child and adolescent psychiatrist trained at Stanford University, UCLA, and The Children’s National Medical Center. Dr. Zametkin has been conducting clinical research studies at the Clinical Center over the past 23 years.
