The purpose of this notice is to clarify instructions for applicants and reviewers for RFA-DA-09-006, Criminal Justice Drug Abuse Treatment Studies 2 (CJ-DATS 2) (U01) http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-DA-09-006.html

Instructions to Applicants

Resubmissions should conform to the PHS398 instructions, section 2.7 for Resubmission Applications. Resubmissions must include an Introduction (limited to 3 pages) that summarizes substantial changes since the prior application, and responds to the prior Summary Statement.  However, this CJ-DATS 2 RFA has been changed since DA-08-007 -- including changes in emphasis, in application requirements, and in criteria for review. Therefore, the Introduction to resubmissions should focus on issues from the prior review that are pertinent to the emphases, requirements, and review criteria of the current RFA. 

As directed in the PHS398 instructions: Substantial scientific changes must be marked in the text of the application, but "if the changes are so extensive that essentially all of the text would be marked, explain this in the introduction."

 Instructions to Reviewers

Please note that this CJ-DATS 2 RFA has been changed since DA-08-007 -- including changes in emphasis, in application requirements, and in criteria for review.  Applicants, including those who submitted to the prior RFA, have been instructed to focus issues that are pertinent to the emphases, requirements, and review criteria of the current RFA.
