H.R. 1—Medicare Prescription Drug and Modernization Act of 2003

On December 8, 2003, the President signed into law H.R. 1, the Medicare Prescription Drug and Modernization Act of 2003, as P.L. 108-173. On November 25, 2003, the Senate passed, by a vote of 54 to 44, the conference report to H.R. 1; the House passed this measure on November 22 by a vote of 220 to 215. H.R. 1 was introduced by Representative J. Dennis Hastert (R-IL), Speaker of the House, on June 25. For information on provisions affecting NIH, refer to P.L. 108-173.
