Health Information for Children and Teens

BAM! homepage

BAM! Body and Mind

BAM! is an online quarterly health newsletter for youth ages 9 to 13. Located at www.bam.gov/, this “e-zine” features health information on topics such as physical activity, nutrition, infectious disease, asthma, and safety. Kids may access articles, use interactive features such as quizzes and calendars, and share stories with peers on how they have improved their bodies and minds. In addition to information for youth, the website provides fun and educational health and science curriculums for teachers. Although content varies with each issue, the goal of BAM! remains the same—to help make children’s bodies and minds healthier, stronger, and safer.

Sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

VERB homepageVERB

“VERB: It’s What You Do,” an advertising campaign of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), encourages children ages 9 to 13 to chose a VERB—such as run, bike, or dance—that they can use as a starting point to become more physically active. In addition to television and radio spots, the campaign boasts a website, located at www.verbnow.com. The site includes information about the campaign; downloadable “gizmos” such as stencils, stickers, and paper planes; and articles on sports, the outdoors, and safety. Online polls and quizzes are also featured.

Sponsored and funded by the CDC with promotion by the Publicis Groupe. s
