S. 3822—The Genomics and Personal Medicine Act of 2006

On August 3, 2006, Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) introduced S. 3822, the Genomics and Personal Medicine Act of 2006. S. 3822 would require the Secretary of HHS to establish the Genomics and Personalized Medicine Interagency Working Group (IWG), which will include representation from the NIH, to expand research and programs to advance the field of genomics and personalized medicine, and to develop, in consultation with the IWG, a plan for a national biobanking research initiative. S. 3822 was referred to the Senate Committee on Finance.
