H.R. 2541—The Joe Testaverde Adult Stem Cell Research Act of 2005

On May 23, 2005, Representative Peter King (R-NY) introduced the Joe Testaverde Adult Stem Cell Research Act of 2005. The bill would require the Director of NIH to provide funding for at least five Centers of Excellence to conduct basic and clinical research regarding qualifying adult stem cells. The bill would also require NIH to provide for a program “under which samples of tissues and genetic materials that are of use in qualifying adult stem cell research are donated, collected, preserved, and made available for such research.” H.R. 2541 has four cosponsors and was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
