Using CRISP

The CRISP database provides a user interface to search for scientific concepts, emerging trends and techniques, and to identify specific projects and/or investigators. CRISP contains only Research and Development (R&D) awards from 1972 to present. The mechanisms excluded in the database are Training Programs (A), Health Professions (E), Community Service (H) and Inter/Intra Agency Agreements (Y). Most of the research falls within the broad category of extramural projects, grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements conducted primarily by universities, hospitals, and other research institutions. For those interested in particular diseases or conditions, NIH provides reports in specific disease categories; please note, however, that because of the multidisciplinary and cooperative nature of science, a single award may be coded in several disease or condition reporting areas. Information on NIH funding levels for specific diseases or conditions is available at the following URL
