NCI-Frederick Research Donor Program

REQUESTING SAMPLES FOR RESEARCH

Investigators with RDP Project Approval must submit a "Request for Donor Specimen(s)" Memo to Occupational Health Services (OHS), Building 426, at least 48 hours in advance of sample pick-up. The memo must indicate the number of donors, donor specifications (if any), volume of sample, sample container/media type, and date/time of sample collection. Coded samples may be provided if required by the nature of the research.

Investigators must also submit a "Request for Donor Reimbursement" Memo at the time blood samples are requested. The donor name section shall be left blank for confidential completion by OHS staff. Donors are screened for exposure to HIV-1, HIV-2, HTLV-1, HTLV-2, HIV P24 Ag, HBV sAg, and HCV sAb and are compensated for their time and inconvenience, depending on the volume of their donation. Donor compensation costs and the cost of reagents for viral screening are charged to each requesting Investigator's center number.

Investigators must provide sample containers prior to the scheduled donation.

Investigators must provide transport containers that fully comply with the NCI-Frederick Policy and Procedures for Intra-Facility Transportation of Biological Materials.

Please call OHS Ext. 1096, for questions about obtaining RDP samples for research.
