H.R. 3010—The FY 2006 Labor, HHS, Education Appropriations Bill

On June 9, 2005, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, HHS, Education (Representative Ralph Regula [R-OH], Chairman) marked up the FY2006 Labor, HHS, Education Appropriations bill, which includes funding for NIH. The President’s budget request for NIH for FY2006 is $2.85 billion, an increase of $145 million and 0.5 percent over the FY2005 level. The NIH funding level provided by the Subcommittee is $28,506,805,000, which is $142,290,000 above the FY2005 comparable level, and $2,929,000 below the budget request.

COMMITTEE/SUBCOMMITTEE ACTION

June 16, 2005 - The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, HHS, and Education (Representative Jerry Lewis [R-CA], Chairman) reported H.R. 3010.

June 24, 2005 - The House passed by a vote of 250 yeas to 151 nays.

July 12, 2005 - The Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, HHS, and Education marked up H.R. 3010.

October 24, 2005 -  The Senate began debate on H.R. 3010.

October 27, 2005 - The Senate passed by a vote of 94-3.

November 17, 2005 - The House rejected the conference report on H.R. 3010 by a vote of 224 to 209.

December 14, 2005 - The House passed the revised conference report accompanying H.R. 3010.

December 21, 2005 - The Senate passed by voice vote the conference report on H.R. 3010.

PRESIDENTIAL ACTION

December 30, 2005 - The President signed H.R. 3010 into law as P.L. 109-149.
