This laboratory studies kidney function in health and disease. The major objectives are to understand renal transport and osmotic regulation at molecular and cellular levels and determine how these processes are integrated to account for normal and abnormal renal function. The processes investigated include water and ion transport, gene expression, apoptosis, intracellular signaling and membrane trafficking. The laboratory provides training opportunities at all levels from high school to postdoctoral.
