DescriptionBy bringing together a diverse group of experts in one location to focus on this disease, the meeting will be able to pool our knowledge to create goals for the future to determine the etiology, pathogenesis, and more rational, evidence-based therapeutic approaches. The first meeting on this topic, held in Dessau, Germany in 2006, laid the groundwork for such an undertaking. The meeting will also aim to garner additional awareness and support for basic and clinical research. In addition, the symposium will provide a clearer picture of this devastating disease, the current status on mechanisms, treatments and future needs to improve the quality of life and quality of care for those with HS.
