DescriptionThe review of existing practice guidelines and their scientific merit and the refinement of appropriate, effective recommendations for the treatment of individuals with SCD in the United States will result in improved care at the local community level. Preventive and interventional strategies will be available for all patients seeking medical treatment. Based on practice guidelines, clinicians will initiate timely treatment of acute illnesses and recognize life-threatening episodes.
