S. 3504—The Fetus Farming Prohibition Act of 2006

On June 13, 2006, Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) introduced S. 3504, the Fetus Farming Prohibition Act of 2006. The bill would prohibit soliciting or knowingly receiving or accepting a donation of human fetal tissue knowing that "a human pregnancy was deliberately initiated to provide such tissue." The bill would also prohibit receiving or accepting tissues or cells "obtained from a human embryo or fetus that was gestated in the uterus of a nonhuman animal."

FLOOR ACTION

July 18, 2006 -  The Senate passed S. 3504 by a vote of 425-0.

PRESIDENTIAL ACTION

July 19, 2006 - The President signed into law as P.L.109-242.
