Case-Control Study of Endometrial Cancer

Image of the uterus and fallopian tubes

This multi-center multi-disciplinary case-control study of endometrial cancer was designed to address multiple hypotheses regarding this cancer site. The study, conducted in collaboration with five large hospital gynecologic oncology departments, identified approximately 500 women with newly diagnosed disease for study. These patients, as well as appropriate hospital and population controls, were interviewed regarding a variety of factors possibly important in the etiology of endometrial cancers. Anthropometric measurements were also taken to assess the influence of body fat distribution on disease risk. In addition, blood samples were obtained, which have been used to assess the influence on risk of endogenous hormones, micronutrients and genetic factors. More information, Louise Brinton
