S. 2002—A Bill To Provide Protection Against Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy And Other Prion Diseases

On November 14, Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL) introduced S. 2002, a bill to provide protection against bovine spongiform encephalopathy and other prion diseases. The bill includes a provision that would require the establishment of a task force on prion diseases to provide recommendations to Congress on the status of all surveillance and research programs, and would include NIH in its membership. The bill was referred to the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry.
