Supporting Technologies/Research Tools in Basic Research Working Group
Before a new therapy can proceed to the clinical phase, much basic research must be conducted. There is a need for validating the long-term stability of stem cells in culture and after transplantation, understanding cell cycle control and cell specialization, and evaluating cell-host interactions.
The goals of the Working Group are to:
-
Assess the needs for supporting supplies, materials, reagents and databases with broad public access.
-
Assess needs, progress and opportunities for characterization studies, genomics, and proteomics approaches to better define stem cell lines.
- Develop protocols for directed differentiation.
-
Recommend needs for enhancing research tools to the NIH Stem Cell Task Force.
