New Teaching Module for Middle School Science and Health Teachers Format: Curriculum Institute: National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR), Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (OBSSR), Office of Science Education (OSE) Middle school science teachers can supplement and update their curricula with a new, free curriculum supplement designed to promote interdisciplinary learning and encourage students’ interest in science. The Science of Healthy Behaviors is an easily integrated teacher-ready guide to eight days of guided-inquiry science lessons that explore how behavioral and social factors influence health. This teaching unit includes background information, lesson plans, take-home materials, and a Web-based component.
This supplement is the latest installment in the popular NIH Curriculum Supplement Series, which provides teachers with innovative instruction tools consistent with the National Science Education Standards released by the National Academy of Sciences in 1996. The series is aligned to state standards for science, math, English language arts, and health.
