Improving the Health of Populations through Cost Effectiveness Analysis

The Applied Research Program co-sponsored a "Conference on Cost Effectiveness Analysis" held in Portland, Oregon, on September 5 - 6, 2000. ORB's co-sponsors were the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, and Kaiser Permanente, Northwest Region.

The primary objectives of this conference were to enhance the usefulness and expand the application of cost-effectiveness analysis by health care decision makers who are accountable for health care resources and responsible for delivering health care services to defined populations, primarily those within managed care organizations.
