On July 31, the NIH Library introduced NIH researchers and staff to a new class, Web Search: Thinking Beyond Google. The instructors discussed the benefits of numerous search engines and websites. Among the highlights were:
- Scirus: Use this specialized search engine to identify scientific research.
- Clusty: Try this site to search multiple sources and view results clustered by subject.
- Librarians' Internet Index: Tap into the evaluation expertise of librarians through this collection of selected resources.
- KartOO: Visualize relationships among your search results.
The Library plans to add several sections of Web Search: Thinking Beyond Google to the fall training schedule. Check http://training.cit.nih.gov/coursepicfull.asp?cnumber=960&term=08S for the dates (to be posted later this month), to place your name on the waitlist, or to read a description of the class.
