Launched by the Nature Publishing Group in December 2004, Connotea is a free online reference management tool. Connotea is similar to the social bookmarking tool del.icio.us but is tailored to the information needs and workflow of scientists, researchers, and clinicians.
- Use the Connotea browser button to save links to important journals, articles, websites, and other online resources.
- Assign keywords (or tags) to your references to help you find them later.
- Exchange items within your Connotea library with other users.
- Send colleagues the URL to your library to share references of mutual interest. By viewing other collections, you can discover new and interesting content that may have been missed.
- Import and export references from EndNote®, EndNote® Web, and Reference Manager® to and from a Connotea collection.
- Import Firefox bookmarks into a collection, and in the future, import del.icio.us bookmarks.
As a web-based service, your Connotea library is available from anywhere at anytime, allowing you to add interesting references on the fly.
