NIH Library Fall Classes: Learn to Manage and Master Online Information Resources

Learn to manage and master online information resources by attending fall training classes sponsored by the NIH Library.

Register to attend these free, hands-on classes and learn how to access, search, retrieve, and organize research information available through the NIH Library website. Improve your skills and save time by discovering the best methods to identify journal articles and other sources relevant to your work.

» The PubMed ® and Scopus ™ classes demonstrate the best techniques to search and find published medical, scientific, and social science references in your area of study. Special features and services of both databases will be demonstrated.

» An updated course offering, Evidence Based Resources 101, highlights quick and easy ways to find online evidence-based medical resources and materials.

» If you are writing a scientific report, journal article, or book chapter, or compiling references in your area of research, the bibliographic management software packages, Reference Manager ® and EndNote ®, can make your professional life easier. Reference Manager and EndNote support the writing process by allowing you to retrieve, file, and organize references with ease; effortlessly insert references into your manuscript; format your documents to required journal styles with the click of a mouse; and instantly create an entire bibliography. Due to the popularity of the Reference Manager and EndNote programs, classes are scheduled several times throughout the semester.

» For this season, an exciting pair of classes has been added to the schedule: QUOSA Basic and QUOSA Advanced . The QUOSA Information Manager™ is a dynamic and powerful program that allows you to search PubMed , Web of Science ®, and OVID ® databases and quickly retrieve and download all available PDF articles at one time. QUOSA also provides easy integration with Reference Manager and EndNote and many more time-saving features. Go to the head of the class by attending this training in December.

NIH Library classes are available to all HHS employees. Registration is required. Click on the links below to register for the classes of your choice. Seating is limited so please register early.

For more information, call Reference & Information Services at 301-496-1080 or visit Resource Training on the NIH Library website.
