Organization

The CGF staff is structured into five functional groups under the direction of the Scientific and Interim Directors.

Ph.D., Sr. Scientist

Laurie Burdett

The Sr. Scientist works with all groups and the customers to provide scientific support and assistance, performing some of the day to day details such as assay design and validation, project QC and data delivery.

MS, Production Genotyping

Amy Hutchinson

The CGF Production Genotyping group is responsible for the laboratory aspects of the majority of customer-based projects at the CGF. The group is functionally split to perform various genotyping methodologies and sample preparation projects. Production Genotyping group projects are conducted using very specific SOPs and QC guidelines. Any projects falling outside the scope of this group are transferred to the Dedicated Scientific Operations group for rapid resolution.

MS, Dedicated Scientific Operations

The CGF Dedicated Scientific Operations group provides rapid response and services for whole genome scan data and other high priority projects. Which are becoming more frequent in light of the evolving landscape of cancer genetics. This group also handles requests that are outside the scope of the Production Genotyping group, and evaluates new technologies that could improve the quality and productivity of services provided to the CGF's customers.

MS, Quality Control/Assurance (QC/QA)

Belynda Hicks

The CGF Quality Control/Assurance group work closely with the staff of the Production Genotyping and Dedicated Scientific Operations laboratory groups to ensure the production and delivery of high quality data, by implementing and enforcing strict quality control standards. The group is also responsible for the training of all laboratory staff, and development of QC methodology and procedures when necessary. The QC/QA group is also responsible for implementing and maintaining quality assurance for all laboratory processes and equipment.

Administrative Support and Project Management

Marianne Rivera-Silva

The CGF Administrative Support and Project Management group provides administrative support to senior management and the leaders of the other four groups and their staff. Second, members of this group are responsible for all project management within the CGF.

Bioinformatics and Analysis

The CGF Bioinformatics and Analysis group is responsible for all informatics activities at the CGF. These include software development and analytical tasks that span three interrelated functional areas. The Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) supports informatics needs for laboratory operation and stores genotyping data and related meta-data. Other informatics resources, like Genewindow and SNP500Cancer, have been designed to help meet the requirements of CGF services. The group also develops analytical tools that support scientific discovery operations at the CGF.
