Attendant-Assisted Parking |

Attendant assisted parking is provided at NIH to increase on-campus parking capacity and to compensate for the loss of parking spaces due to construction. Six attendant assisted garages and parking lots are managed by Colonial Parking, Inc., under contract to NIH. With attendant assisted parking, first arriving employees self-park and lock their cars in the existing striped spaces. When the self-park spaces are full, attendants direct employees to designated stacked parking locations (i.e., aisles) where the parkers leave their car and ignition key and receive a claim ticket. Attendants secure vehicle keys using keyed security locks. As self-park spaces open, stacked cars are moved into available spaces. Departing employees whose cars are stack-parked present their claim ticket to attendants who return the ignition key. Attendants also move any stacked vehicles blocking self-parked vehicles. Colonial Parking reserves the right to move a car to other sections of the lot or other lots within the complex. Reasonable care is given to cars left in the custody of Colonial Parking, however, Colonial is not responsible for loss or damage due to fire, theft, breakage, mechanical failure, collision, fire, freezing, or personal property left in vehicles. Articles left in the car are at the owner's risk. No employee has the right to change these conditions.
