The CRIS database is migrating to a relational platform, and this will require a change in the search engine. All search interfaces to records in the database will change. These include all direct accesses through the web site (Assisted, Professional, Pending, Administrative), as well as all "indirect" accesses through "Fastlinks." These are hyperlinks to one or more records in the CRIS database that may be added to any web page, email, word processing document, spreadsheet, PDF file, etc. See the "What's New in CRIS" links on the home page for examples of Fastlinks.
Software to access the database has not been identified yet, but there will be differences in functionality. Some functionality will change, there will be new features, and some features currently available may not be available. The change will affect all aspects of interacting with the database, including searching, displaying, printing, and downloading.
The CRIS office will keep users informed as the project goes forward. Please send us your comments and concerns relating to your current use of the CRIS web site and database. It would be helpful if you would identify your needs and how you are using the CRIS web site and database to meet those needs. Be sure to include the details of how and why you use the database, especially if you download records for reformatting or input into a local system.
