NTP at the 46th Annual SoT - March 25-29, 2007

The NTP invites everyone attending the Society of Toxicology 46th Annual Meeting and ToxExpo, March 26 - 29 in Charlotte, NC to come by booth #940 for a visit.

The attached PDF file contains a list of NTP talks and posters being presented at the SOT meeting. Highlights include:
  • New Frontiers in Environmental Sciences and Human Health: Implementation Update on the NIEHS Strategic Plan - Tuesday, March 27, 7:30-8:50, Room 217C. Dr. William J. Martin II, Associate Director, NIEHS, Dr. John Bucher, Director, Toxicology Operations, NTP and Dr. Anne Sassaman, former Director, Division of Extramural Research & Training, retired, will join Dr. David A. Schwartz, Director of the NIEHS/NTP. (Pre-registration not required.)
  • Dr. Schwartz will also be featured in the special session, Meet the Directors - A Dialogue with NIEHS, Wednesday, March 28 from 12:00-1:20PM, Room 208. Dr. Schwartz will discuss emerging trends in bench-to-bedside translational research at the NIEHS and the role of toxicology in advancing new institutional initiatives, focusing on gene-environment interactions and exposure biology.
  • The Future of Risk Assessment In Environmental Health: Can Current Approaches Fulfill Public Health Needs? a workshop that will include a presentation by Dr. Christopher J. Portier, NIEHS Associate Director, "Dose-Response Analysis: the Quantitative Challenge" is scheduled for Monday, March 26 at 9:30am, Room 208.
  • Alternative and Integrated Approaches to Skin Sensitization Testing is a workshop session, scheduled for Monday, March 26 in Room 207C at 3:50-4:15pm. Dr. William Stokes, Director of the NTP Interagency Center for the Evaluation of Alternative Toxicological Methods/NIEHS will address the recent progress and future direction of skin sensitization testing.
  • Dr. John French's presentation, "Identification of Presumptive Human Carcinogens and their Mode of Action Using Toxicogenetics" will be given during the Scientific Session: Approaches to Assessing Whether A Carcinogen is Acting Via a Genotoxic Mode of Action, scheduled from 9:00-11:45am on Thursday, March 28, Room 217A.
  • Toxicogenomics is a Team Sport, a workshop chaired by Dr. Gary Boorman, is scheduled for Wednesday, March 28 at 3:05, Room 208. Dr. Boorman will give the introduction and Drs. Rick Irwin and Kevin Gerrish will be presenters.
  • On Thursday, March 29th, Dr. Nigel Walker offer the presentation "How Can Parmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Modeling Be Used to Understand Observed Interactions?" in a roundtable session, Chemical Mixtures: Is the 'Problem' Solvable? scheduled at 7:30am, Room 217A. At 9:00am, Room 208, Dr. Dori Germolec will chair a symposium Gene Expression and Immune System Susceptibility.
