Librarian (Medical & Biological Science)
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Library in Bethesda, Maryland, seeks innovative, customer service oriented librarians with strong biomedical backgrounds to provide information management, reference, marketing, scholarly communication, instruction, consultant, and expert search services.

These positions require individuals interested in leading the Library in exploring new technology that can be applied to servicing Library clients; embedding Library products and services seamlessly in the workflow of NIH staff; and developing an in-depth awareness of current and emerging issues associated with scholarly communication. These positions require a commitment to life long learning and attendance at courses offered by NIH and local universities to increase one's knowledge in appropriate areas. Tuition will be paid and time off from work will be given to attend classes.

Salary range is $44,856 to $84,559 with promotion potential to a salary range of $77,353 to $100,554.

Biomedical Library Intern
The National Institutes of Health Library in Bethesda, Maryland, seeks a librarian trainee who is energetic, user-centered and works well as a team member. We are an innovative, team-based organization committed to continuous learning and increasing user self-sufficiency. We seek an individual who is interested in learning about providing reference and document delivery services, has a good grasp of the applications of information technology in accessing and delivering information, has a biomedical background, and who has strong interpersonal and communication skills.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is one of the largest biomedical research centers in the world, with a staff of about 18,000 – 6,000 of whom are Ph.D.'s or physicians. The NIH Library supports the biomedical and behavioral research needs of the NIH community with a comprehensive range of scientific, medical and administrative information and support services.Position responsibilities include providing reference service, performing author and cited author database searching, providing document delivery and circulation desk services, developing web content, and assisting with the instruction program. Training will be provided as needed.

An applicant must be a student in good standing in a library and information science graduate program and able to work 20 to 30 hours per week. The starting wage for this position is $16.39 per hour plus benefits.
