Firefighter and Fire Protection Engineer
Fire Protection Engineer - The Fire Protection Engineer at the NIH serves as an expert technical authority on fire prevention, fire protection and life safety engineering issues across the NIH community. The Fire Protection Engineer provides expert advice and performs highly advanced complex reviews of plans and specifications for fire suppression, fire detection, life safety analysis and hazard analysis to ensure that all new construction, renovation, and improvements meet fire and life safety code provisions. As a technical authority in fire protection and prevention engineering, this staff member provides authoritative advice and guidance to senior NIH management officials and federal and non-federal architects and engineers to ensure the most up-to-date fire prevention concepts and practice are incorporated into the design and construction of NIH facilities.
