H. R. 3774 —The Senior Executive Service Diversity Assurance Act

On October 9, 2007, Representative Danny Davis (D-IL) introduced, the Senior Executive Service Diversity Assurance Act. The bill would establish the Senior Executive Service Resource Office within the Office of Personnel Management to improve the management of the SES and to increase diversity in the Service. The bill would also establish one or more SES evaluation panels within each Department of the Federal government. The panels would review qualifications of candidates and certify the names of candidates who are best qualified for a position. H.R. 3774 was referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. The companion measure, S. 2148, was introduced Senator Daniel Akaka (D-HI), on October 4, 2007.

COMMITTEE/SUBCOMMITTE ACTION

May 1, 2008 -  The House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on the Federal Workforce (Representative Danny Davis [D-IL], Chairman) approved, as amended, H.R. 3774 by voice vote.

May 22, 2008 – The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform (Representative Henry Waxman [D-CA], Chairman), reported (H. Rept. 110-672), H.R. 3774.

FLOOR ACTION

June 3, 2008 - The House passed by voice vote H.R. 3774.
