H. R. 2829—The Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act, 2008

On June 22, 2007, Representative Jose Serrano (D-NY) introduced H.R. 2829, the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act, 2008. The bill would provide $43.8 billion in Fiscal Year 2008 for the Department of the Treasury, Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the District of Columbia (DC), including $12.3 billion for the Treasury Department; $21.1 billion for OPM; $6.3 billion for the operation of the Federal court system; $722 million for the Executive Office of the President; and $655 million in Federal payments for DC government. Finally, included in the government-wide provisions is a 3.5 percent pay increase for Federal civilian employees.  Provisions in this legislation became Division D of the omnibus appropriations bill (H.R. 2764), which became public law 110-161 on December 26, 2007.

COMMITTEE/SUBCOMMITTEE ACTION

July 10, 2007 - The Senate Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Subcommittee (Senator Richard Durbin [D-IL], Chairman) approved H.R. 2829 by a vote of 5-4.

FLOOR ACTION

June 28, 2007 - The House passed H.R. 2829 by a vote of 240-179.
