S. 911—The Conquer Childhood Cancer Act of 2007

On March 19, 2007, Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) introduced S. 911, the Conquer Childhood Cancer Act of 2007. The legislation would amend Title IV of the Public Health Service Act to establish special programs of research excellence, a pediatric cancer fellowship program, a national childhood cancer registry, and a public awareness campaign. The bill would authorize $30 million for each of the Fiscal Years 2008 through 2012. S. 911 was referred to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP). It is similar to H.R. 1553, which passed the House by a vote of 416 – 0 on June 12, 2008.

November 14, 2007 - The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) ordered to be reported S. 911 with an amendment in the nature of a substitute favorably.

December 12, 2007 - The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) reported S. 911 with an amendment in the nature of a substitute.
