S. 1200—Indian Health Care Improvement Act

On April 24, 2007, Senator Byron Dorgan (D-ND) introduced S. 1200, Indian Health Care Improvement Act. Among its many provisions, the bill would require the Secretary of HHS to establish a Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Task Force to advise the Secretary on the development and provision of services for the prevention, intervention, treatment, and aftercare for those affected by fetal alcohol spectrum disorders in Indian communities and provision of supportive services for adolescent and adult Indians with FASD. Representatives on the Task Force would include individuals from NIAAA, NICHD, NIDA, and NIMH. S. 1200 was referred to the Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Commerce, and Ways and Means.

FLOOR ACTIONS

February 26, 2007 - The Senate passed S. 1200 as amended by a vote of 83 to 10.
