The Division of Intramural Research established the Laboratory of Clinical Investigation (LCI) to accomplish the Division's research objectives. The research is centered around the theme of stressors and aging, such as depression, cognitive decline, chronic pain, musculoskeletal frailty, and sleep disorders.
Investigators are studying:
- biologically based therapies, such as DHEA, phytoestrogens, soy, carnitine, and mistletoe
- alternative medical systems, such as acupuncture
- mind-body medicine, such as placebo effect, meditation, and spirituality.
The LCI will ultimately be composed of five sections:
- Clinical Immunology
- Clinical Pharmacology
- Endocrine
- Musculoskeletal Biology and Cancer
- Neurobiology
