S. Con Res. 56—Deep-Vein Thrombosis Awareness Month

On March 2, 2005, the Senate passed S. Res. 56, Deep-Vein Thrombosis Awareness Month, under unanimous consent. The measure, which was introduced on February 16 by Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA), would designate March as Deep-Vein Thrombosis Awareness Month. The resolution was cosponsored by Senators Byron Dorgan (D-ND) and Sam Brownback (R-KS) in memory of journalist David Bloom, who died of a fatal pulmonary embolism while covering the war in Iraq. The resolution was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary and was discharged from the Committee on March 2.
