OTT Announces Two New Branch Chiefs for the Division of Technology Development and Transfer

OTT is pleased to announce two new Branch Chiefs in the Division of Technology Development and Transfer (DTDT). Sue Ano, Ph.D. will be moving into the position of Chief of the Infectious Diseases and Medical Engineering Branch (IDME) and Mojdeh Bahar, J.D., M.S. will be moving into the position of Chief of the Cancer Branch.

Dr. Ano joined OTT in 2002 as a Technology Licensing Specialist in IDME, following post-doctoral positions at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Purdue University, focusing on characterization of biomolecules by NMR spectroscopy. Dr. Ano received her Ph.D. from the Department of Chemistry, Emory University, and her B.S. from the Department of Chemistry, University of Delaware. These research efforts resulted in several peer-reviewed journal publications as well as book chapters.

Ms. Bahar joined OTT in 2004 and has worked as a Technology Licensing Specialist in the Cancer Branch managing complex license and patent prosecution matters. Prior to joining OTT, Ms. Bahar was an Examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and she is a patent attorney registered to practice before the USPTO, the State of Maryland, United States District Court for the District of Maryland, and the United States Court of Appeals for Federal Circuit. She is also a Certified Licensing Professional. Ms. Bahar graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in 2000, and she received a Master of Arts degree from New York University and a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Chemistry and French from Dickinson College.

Dr. Ano and Ms. Bahar are currently the Acting Chiefs of their respective branches but will formally take on their duties beginning August 18, 2008.
