H.R. 5798—An Amendment to Modify Provisions in the Public Health Service Act that Established a Program for the Sanctuary System for Surplus Chimpanzees

On July 13, 2006, Representative Jim McCrery (R-LA) introduced H.R. 5798, the Public Health Service Act that established a program for the sanctuary system for surplus chimpanzees. The amendment, would terminate the authority for the removal of chimpanzees from the system for research purposes. There is no Senate version of this legislation. The bill was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.

FLOOR ACTION

December 6, 2006 -  The House passed H.R. 5798 by voice vote.
