H.R. 5390—The Cancer Survivorship Research and Quality of Life Act of 2006

On May 16, 2006, Representative Roger Wicker (R-MS) introduced H.R. 5390, the Cancer Survivorship Research and Quality of Life Act of 2006. The bill would (1) require the NIH Director to expand and coordinate cancer survivorship research at NIH, (2) establish a Division of Cancer Survivorship within NCI, (3) establish Comprehensive Cancer Survivorship Centers, and (4) earmark not less than $50 million each fiscal year for cancer survivorship research. The bill was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
