H.R. 3427—The Expansion of Federal Efforts Concerning the Prevention, Education, Treatment, and Research Activities Related to Lyme and Other Tick-Borne Diseases

On July 26, 2005, Representative Christopher Smith (R-NJ) introduced H.R. 3427, a bill to provide for the expansion of Federal efforts concerning the prevention, education, treatment, and research activities related to Lyme and other tick-borne diseases, including the establishment of a Tick-Borne Diseases Advisory Committee. The text of the bill is not yet available. H.R. 3427 has one cosponsor and was referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Representative Smith introduced another related bill, H.R. 2877, the Act for Lyme Education and Research and Tick-Borne Diseases or the “ALERT Act,” on June 14.
