H.R. 2650—The Patient Protection Act of 2005

On May 26, 2005, Representative Charlie Norwood (R-GA) introduced H.R. 2650, the Patient Protection Act of 2005. The bill outlines basic standards for access to medical care, including requiring managed care organizations to allow patients access to clinical trials and pay for the associated costs of the trial. The bill was jointly referred to the House Committees on Energy and Commerce, Education and Workforce, and Ways and Means.
