Fogarty International Clinical Research Scholars Resource and Support Center (FICRS) (R24)

This request for applications (RFA) outlines an opportunity for eligible institutions to develop the management and growth of the Fogarty International Center Clinical Scholars Program (FICSP) in Global Health by developing the Fogarty International Clinical Scholars Program Resource and Support Center. Established in 2003, this Scholars Program provides early training and career opportunities for U.S. graduate students in the health professions to participate in mentored clinical research in developing countries. The scholars from this program will be called Fogarty International Scholars "FIS" throughout this announcement. The purpose of this scholars program is to encourage the next generation of clinical investigators, especially with an eye toward international health research concentrations and collaborations. The program also gives hands-on experience for these potential new U.S. and foreign investigators in low- and middle-income countries, and strengthens relationships and collaborations between U.S. and foreign institutions, researchers, and trainees in these countries. In addition, the program builds research capacity in the developing countries by providing financial and training support for students and newly graduated researchers in those countries.
